Making Scotland a safer and stronger place means developing a coherent penal policy which is tough on serious crime, offers swift justice and community payback.
It also means encouraging a culture of personal and collective responsibility and promoting opportunities. But the Scottish Government firmly believes that prevention is better than cure and the underlying causes of crime must be tackled.
A hard hitting campaign to warn people about the dangers and consequences using of air and replica guns has been launched.
The adverts highlight the potential consequences and follows the refusal by the Home Office to review and update the firearms legislation, devolve the powers to the Scottish Government or allow Scotland to pilot a simple licensing system for airguns.
