Remit
To advise Ministers and the Scottish Government on clinical and policy matters related to the implementation and development of the national breast and cervical screening programmes including:-
- the monitoring of the programmes' effectiveness and efficiency;
- monitoring of quality assurance and performance standards;
- to advise on the development of evidence and information to NHS Boards;
- review evidence from trials and research and consider and approve relevant screening research proposals;
- to advise on programme developments and policy and their implementations for NHSScotland.
The group will meet approximately 3-4 times a year and will be able to establish short-term working sub-groups to consider specific issues and report back to the main Group or relevant specialisms will be co-opted onto the Group for short periods of up to 12 months.
Membership will be for a initial 2 year period from January 2004. Secretariat for the groups will be provided by National Services Division, NHS National Services Scotland.
