What we do

We work with a range of people and groups interested in advancing and promoting practical, relevant and deliverable policies for mental health services and approaches in Scotland.

This includes our colleagues in the Mental Health Division, the wider Health Department and Scottish Executive, NHS Boards, local authorities, the voluntary and other sectors and with service users and carers in all aspects of our work on policy consideration, development, review and delivery.

Our work is guided by the Government's priorities for mental health on prevention, good mental health promotion, appropriate intervention and focus on sustained recovery.

In short we focus on the "what" and "how to" aspects of mental health in Scotland. Our particular immediate focus and attention is on the targets and commitments made in Delivering for Mental Health, all of which are designed to improve mental health services and support in Scotland.
