Children's mental health

Commitment 10

"We will improve mental health services being offered to children and young people by ensuring that by 2008:
  • A named mental health link person is available to every school, fulfilling the functions outlined in the Framework; and
  • basic mental health training should be offered to all those working with, or caring for, looked after and accommodated children and young people."

The Framework1 will be implemented by 2015 and Delivering for Mental Health aims to support this process. Two key delivery milestones will be tracked as part of this implementation- Commitment 10 (above) and Commitment 11.

Mental Health in Scotland: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Support for Change

As you know considerable progress had been made in recent years both in mapping out what needs to be done and in delivering the changes that will be required now and in the future to implement the CAMHS Framework for Promotion, Prevention and Care by 2015.

To further inform this progress, and provide further clarity and consensus on what service systems should like to deliver the functions and principles contained in the Framework, we commissioned the Scottish Development Centre for Mental Health to map activity around the following range of groups and subject areas.
