MHO survey

The 2006 Survey of Mental Health Officer (MHO) Services in Scotland explored how all local authorities were addressing the new waves of legislation and how they were deploying and managing their MHOs in the face of unprecedented changes in role and demand following the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland)Act, 2003.

Towards a vision for mental health officer services for the next 10 years

This two-day conference is a development from the 2006 survey and aimed to address

three strands:

  • To conceive a vision of the service in ten years time, thereby giving an ideal to aim for.
  • To begin accurately defining attributes of Quality in MHO services. This first step would enable providers to calculate what is desirable in service delivery, thereby enabling measurement of services and comparison of various means of managing and deploying MHOs. This in turn would facilitate the end of finding out what works best for any given area.
  • To share ideas and examples of good practice.

Here are the conference report and programme.
