Cancer remains a national clinical priority for NHS Scotland and Better Cancer Care, An Action Plan outlines the way forward for cancer services, which are required to support all those in Scotland who find themselves living with and beyond cancer.

The Plan highlights a patient-focused model for self care, which has been developed in partnership between patients, carers and healthcare professionals. This model can be adapted at local level to reflect local needs and services that are available, identifying the kind of support that patients might require at each stage of their cancer journey.

In addition, the plan highlights the latest Cancer Incidence Projections for Scotland (2006-2020) Better Cancer Care: An Aid to Planning Cancer Services, which has been updated to reflect 2006-based population projections.
