The National Cancer Quality Steering Group reports to the Scottish Cancer Taskforce and is chaired by Dr Robert Masterton, Lead Clinician, West of Scotland Cancer Area Network and one of the National Cancer Clinical Leads.
Remit
- To provide strategic leadership to deliver the commitments in Better Cancer Care which relate to quality improvement in cancer services.
- To ensure that all quality related work streams relating to cancer that are being progressed by other sub groups of the Scottish Cancer Taskforce and NHS organisations/Government Departments are coordinated and aligned with the agreed national quality framework. For example, standards development, cancer information and eHealth, the patient safety programme, improvement and support team's work in relation to waiting times and the patient experience programme.

Membership
Membership includes representatives from the three regional cancer networks, NHS Quality Improvement Scotland, NHS Information Services Division, NHS Education for Scotland and the Scottish Government.
Representatives from other organisations are invited to meetings on an ad hoc basis according to the agenda.
