The Living with Cancer Group reports to the Scottish Cancer Taskforce and is chaired by Dr Bill O'Neill, one of the National Cancer Clinical Leads. The group meets around four times a year and a variety of patient/carer participation initiatives will take place to achieve the Living with Cancer agenda. Such events would involve patients and carers, as well as colleagues from the voluntary sector, local government and NHS Scotland.

- Living with Cancer Project Database: There are many projects and initiatives underway across Scotland that are relevant to those living with and beyond cancer. A mapping exercise of these existing projects has been carried out and has revealed in excess of 130 projects of varying size and impact. The database includes information on the projects including contact details and location.

Remit
The Group is concerned with issues involving people 'living with and beyond' cancer and its agreed remit is as follows:
To identify issues of concern to those living with cancer, to define an agenda and to seek solutions for these issues, taking account of the commitments made in Better Cancer Care and other work being undertaken by Scottish Government and other organisations.
Membership
Membership includes individuals from NHS Scotland and a wide range of voluntary organisations. In contrast to the Scottish Cancer Taskforce's other groups, members of the Living with Cancer group were recruited for the skills which they as an individual could bring to the group to help progress the workplan, rather than as representatives of their organisation.
Representatives from other organisations are invited to meetings on an ad hoc basis according to the agenda.
