Good Places Better Health, Findings and Recommendations

GPBH prototype considered four health challenges facing children in Scotland: Obesity, Asthma, Unintentional Injury and Mental Health and Wellbeing.

An independent expert evaluation group has considered the question "What is needed to deliver places that nurture good health for children?" The work is supported by an intelligence partnership who gathered a "mixed economy of evidence from modelling, wide stakeholder engagement and evidence review.

'Good Places Better Health for Scotland's Children' contains the recommendations and findings of the group.

The prototype phase delivered 4 evidence assessments against different childhood health outcomes:

The four evidence assessments aim to provide policy makers and influencers with a rounded view of both Scottish and international intelligence on the childhood health issues of obesity, asthma, accidental injury and mental health & wellbeing. They map a complex range of inter-relating determinants between health and the environment that may contribute towards these health issues and identify a range of actions and recommendations that may help address them. The findings are part of a synthesis of evidence which informs "Good Places for Scotland's Children" . It is hoped that the level of detail contained within the reports may also be of value to practitioners, policy makers and other individuals with an interest in these four areas.
