Care Services for Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
The long-term effects of childhood sexual abuse are now better understood, and need sensitive long-term care responses.
The Scottish Government is taking action to improve the care and treatment of survivors of sexual abuse including:
- £2 million funding for a Survivors' Fund to kick-start the development of better local services
- Lead professionals to assist in the implementation of a national strategy
- A reference group including adult survivors and members of the Cross Party Group on Childhood Sexual Abuse to agree actions
- Establishing a survivors' network to give survivors a say in how services can be improved
- A consultation on developing an acknowledgement and accountability forum
