Care closer to home

Better Health Better Care Better Health Better Care

The Scottish Government has set out a programme to deliver a healthier Scotland by helping people to sustain and improve their health, especially in disadvantaged communities, ensuring better, local and faster access to health care. The Action Plan is informed by the response to the consultation on Better Health, Better Care: A Discussion Document (August 2007).

The Shifting the Balance of Care workstream of Delivering for Health aims to improve the health of the people of Scotland by shifting the emphasis towards health improvement, preventative medicine and more continuous care in the community. This means providing care which is quicker, more personal and closer to home as well as enhancing services to deliver anticipatory care.
