A seminar for Chief Executives and Directors of Nursing was held on 16 August 2006 to highlight how NHS Scotland can improve the quality of general hospital services for people with learning disabilities, following concerns raised by the death of Jimmy Mauchland in 2000. The report of the seminar has been issued.

A seminar was held on 6 October to consider assessment and treatment beds and models of service provision following long stay hospital closures. The seminar was designed to give people from across Scotland the opportunity to discuss current bed use, identify barriers to local developments, work towards an agreed definition of assessment and treatment provision, and consider developing models of services. The report of the event includes the key themes from the speakers and feedback from the discussions.

The SAY Statistical Bulletins for 2006,2005, 2004 and 2003 can be accessed here.
