What is Joint Resourcing?
Joint Resourcing is the management activity in which NHS Boards and Councils identify, bring together and manage their resources along the whole pathway of care services.
Why do we need Joint Resourcing?
Joint Resourcing supports achieving better outcomes and delivering value for money for the taxpayer. When done effectively, it enables local partnerships to understand the nature and type of resources engaged in the whole system delivery of services. They can then apply it to direct resources, existing and new, to deliver better outcomes for service users and their carers.
How will Joint Resourcing be implemented?
As part of joint management, local partners determine the services and activities that are to be subject to joint resourcing. This is called " scoping the pot." They then set out a Joint Resourcing Financial Framework. which details the arrangements under which the local partners will manage financial resources together. Resources may either be " aligned" or " pooled" depending on the overall degree of integration which local partners consider appropriate to deliver all or part of their services.
