Equipment & Adaptations Guidance

Equipment and Adaptations Guidance

New Guidance on the Provision of Equipment and Adaptations was issued on 1 December 2009. The new guidance aims to assist local authorities and their NHS partners to modernise and integrate their equipment and adaptations services within the wider community care context.

The main aims of the guidance are to:

  • Place the user and carer at the centre of provision;
  • Promote a consistent approach to assessment of need, and the provision of appropriate services, including equipment and adaptations;
  • Ensure that all users and carers have access to up to date and relevant information on equipment and adaptations;
  • Promote good practice and partnership working in relation to equipment and adaptations.

Alongside the guidance the Scottish Government has developed a number of toolkits to assist partnerships in their service reviews. Practical support is also being offered through the JIT.

The toolkits and other useful publications can be found in the Useful Publications section.
