The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act came into force on January 1, 2005.

From this date requests for information are covered by the legislative requirements of the Act which includes providing the information (unless exempt) within 20 working days, a duty to provide advice and assistance to applicants, and proactively publishing information in our Publication Scheme.
