What the definition can cover
The care aspects, and associated residential accommodation, provided to pupils for the purpose of their attendance at school by:
A- Independent special schools with boarding provision;
B- Grant-aided special schools;
C- Independent schools with Boarding provision voluntary registered prior to April 2002 under section 34 of the Children(Scotland) Act 1995;
D- Education authority residential special schools registered prior to 1st April 2002 under previous arrangements;
E- Independent schools with boarding provision not voluntary registered prior to April 2002;
F- Education authority residential special schools not previuosly registered;
G- School hostels.
Commencement status
A,B,C,D - Commenced 1 April 2002.
E,F,G - Commenced 1 April 2005.
