What the definition can cover

A service provided by someone (other than a child's parent, relative, foster parent, or who has parental responsibility for the child) who looks after one or more children for reward on domestic premises other than the home of the children's parents for more than 2 hours per day.

Commencement status

Phased commencement:

  • To age 8 years - commenced 1 April 2002
  • Age 9 to 16 years - commenced 1 October 2002
