What the Definition can Cover
A service which is maintained by a Local Authority (LA) under section 1(1) of the Adoption (Scotland) Act 1978 (Chapter 28).
or
A service provided by a person other than a LA and which consists of or includes, the making of arrangements for or in connection with the adoption of children as part of the Scottish adoption service. This does not include where making the arrangements for adoption involves a relative of the child as the proposed adopter.
