Fitness of Providers, Managers and Employees of Care Services

New regulations governing fitness came into effect on 1 April 2009. They are:

Reducing the Minimum Frequency of Inspection

A new Order setting out the minimum frequency of inspections of care services came into effect on 1 April. the previous Order (SSI 2007/131) has been revoked. The report and the responses are now available.

Care Commission Fees 2009-10

During the Autum we asked for views on proposals to increase the maximum fees the Care commission could charge. Many responses made representations about the difficulty this would cause them in the current economic climate. In view of this, Ministers have decided that maximum fees the Care Commission can charge in 2009/10 will continue to be frozen at the rates set in 2005. The report and the responses we were given permission to publish are now available.
Ministers have also decided that a review of the structure of fees charged by the Care Commission will take place in 2010/11. More information on how this will be conducted will be published here later in the year.

Consultation on Independent Healthcare Services

This consultation, which sought views on proposals for regulations which will apply to all independent healthcare services regulated by the Care Commission has ended. The consultation reponses are currently being analysed and when completed a consultation report will be available here.
