Extending Professional Regulation
This Implementation Group was set up to feed into, and take information from, the parallel UK Working Group on Extending Professional Regulation. It was jointly chaired by Dr Frances Dow, lay Chair and Audrey Cowie, Professional Adviser on Regulation and Workforce Standards. Dr Dow was, at that time, the Scottish member of the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence. The Implementation Group considered, amongst other things, criteria for the future regulation of new groups and the different regulatory models available.
This Group has now completed its role in feeding in to the Department of Health Extending Professional Regulation Working Group (which has now been stood down). The DH Working Group produced its final report on 16 July 2009.
The meeting of the Scottish Implementation Group, which took place on 2 February 2009, was the final meeting of the Group.
