Community Health Nurse Model - What's happened so far?

  • Next Steps Conference - 11 February 2009

  • National Community Nursing Census - 24th April 2008

  • Community Benchmarking Profile reviewed and updated with 2007 workforce figures at CHP level. Initial quality assurance underway. Report by April 2008.

  • Collection of data using Professional Judgement approach commenced on 18th February for 2 weeks.

  • Contract for Baseline Evaluation Research Study awarded to Napier University in collaboration with University of Dundee, Queen Margaret University, The Centre for Integrated Healthcare Research, Centre for Rural Health and UHI Millenium Institute. The project team is being led by Dr Catriona Kennedy, Napier Univeristy. The publication will be in Spring and study will run from February until the end of 2008.

  • Advanced Practitioner, Team Leader, Community Staff Nurse and Health Care Assistant draft job descriptions revised following consultation - February 2008

  • Draft CHN job description revised following consultation - January 2008

  • Capability Framework published by NES on their website - December 2007

  • Higher Education Mapping Report published by NES, December 2007. It identifies a significant number of existing educational courses provided by HEIs accross Scotland which will support some of the education needs of practitioners during transition.

  • Draft CHN job descriptions out for consultation - November/December 2007
  • National Patient & Public Involvement Group established. First meeting October 2007
  • Liz Denny appointed as National Workforce & Workload Co-ordinator for the Project - October 2007
  • National Lead Nurse Events held in June & December 2007, May & October 2008, January 2009
  • Draft Community Health Nurse job description - October 2007
