Review of Nursing in the Community Programme Board
Description of Project
Visible, Accessible and Integrated Care, The Review of Nursing in the Community, published in November 2006 recommends a new service model for nursing in the community. The Scottish Government has been charged to establish and lead a 2 year project to ensure the new model is fit for purpose.
Board Purpose
To steer, support and monitor progress of the delivery of the new model of community nursing as described in Visible, Accessible and Integrated Care, The Review of Nursing in the Community on behalf of the Scottish Government.
Board Remit
1. To oversee the development of a new model for community nursing in Scotland within the timescales set out in the project initiation document.
2. To provide advice, guidance and direction to Development Sites, workgroups as necessary.
3. To ensure all governance functions, in relation to staff, clinical, financial, information, education and decision making are addressed.
4. To oversee and contribute to the direction and progress of the Development Sites.
5. To ensure the required level of cross-cutting organisational co-operation and working is achieved.
6. To communicate with other NHS Boards and other relevant stakeholders as required.
7. To establish sub groups or work streams to support delivery of a new model for community nursing.
8. To ensure that the model, as described in Visible, Accessible and Integrated Care, The Review of Nursing in the Community is evaluated.
9. To approve final report on the transition planning and implementation process in the 4 Development Sites (including evidence from the research evaluation) and recommendations on the way forward.
Responsibility
10. The Programme Board is directly responsible to the Chief Nursing Officer for Scotland and the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing.
Membership and attendance
11. Membership is shown below.
12. Members can be represented by a named deputy only (details to be supplied to secretariat).
13. The Programme Board will be quorate with the following members in attendance:-
- Chair or deputy chair
- 2 Representatives from Development Sites
- 1 Staff side representation
- Education representative
Board Meetings
14. The Board will meet monthly as set out in the Schedule of meetings.
Submission of Papers
15. Papers for the Programme Board should be with secretariat (in electronic format) no later than 2 weeks before the meeting date.
16. Tabled papers should be agreed in advance with the Chair.
