Baseline Research Report On Community Nursing in Four Pilot Sites

BASELINE RESEARCH REPORT ON COMMUNITY NURSING IN THE FOUR PILOT SITES

The Scottish Government commissioned a baseline study in 2008 to collect information about the role, views and satisfaction of community nurses in the four pilot sites. The study was independently carried out by a consortium of researchers from Scottish Universities. It focused on nurse's current role before they transition to the new model and their views on the proposed new model of community nursing. The views of their clients, particularly their experiences of receiving care and support from community nurses, were also included in the study.

The information collected as part of the baseline study will be used in the subsequent evaluation of the new community model. This evaluation will be commissioned by the Scottish Government in late spring.

The research can be accessed on the Scottish Government website at:-

A leaflet explaining the resarch will be sent to all community nurses in April 2009.

A dissemination conference will be held on 28 May 2009 with staff and managers within the pilot sites to discusss the findings of the study in more detail.
