Equal access is a founding principle of the NHS and the need to ensure that our services and employment opportunities are open to all has never been greater than in today's ever changing world.

The Workforce Equality & Diversity Branch is responsible for providing guidance to NHSScotland on issues relating to equalities legislation and the branch is responsible for policies relating to employability and outreach to potential recruits including school children.

The Branch developed a diversity awareness campaign for NHSScotland. A range of posters and a leaflet featuring NHS staff from all over Scotland highlight that variety certainly is the spice of life within NHSScotland and underpin the core message that 'Together We Make the Difference'.

The Branch is also responsible for developing a national induction programme for NHSScotland staff and development of a new PIN Guideline for diversity management.

Staff in the Branch also help co-ordinate the Directorate's Race Equality Scheme. This will be published here later in the year.

More information is available on the Diversity Task Force website.
