Audit and data group remit
The audit and data group is working to develop, agree and maintain a planned audit programme for the service, as recommended by the neuroscience action team work for the Kerr report. It is also taking forward work relating to improving the quality of activity data, both locally and centrally held, so that the service has a reliable and accurate picture of national activity.
- The short-term focus for the group is to agree priorities for relevant, useful clinical audit, and to develop a practical and effective method of data collection for any proposed audit.
- The group should agree a common minimum dataset of activity information; this data should be collected and reported back to a central point to inform planning and performance management.
- Overall, a planned audit programme for the service should be set out with clear proposals on methodology (collection and analysis), use of data, and the resource requirements of national implementation. This may be informed by pilot audit which may be developed by the group.
- The group should ensure its proposals for audit arrangements will generate comprehensive, consistent and useful data to be used in future planning. Consideration of audit measures should not be restricted to clinical outcome measures, but could also consider, for example, measures of patient satisfaction.
