FAIR FOR ALL - THE WIDER CHALLENGE
Reducing inequalities and tackling discrimination is not an easy task, especially for an organisation employing over 150,000 members of staff.
The Scottish Executive is therefore supporting a number of equality strand specific initiatives who provide specialist advice and guidance.
The Fair for All - Disability initiative aims to improve disabled people's experiences of the NHS and to ensure that disabled people have equal access to health services. The initiative is a partnership between the Scottish Executive Health Department and Disability Rights Commission.

Healthcare Chaplaincy Training and Development Unit
The Healthcare Chaplaincy Training and Development Unit was established in 2001 to be a resource for NHS Scotland Boards implementing the HDL (2002) 76, Spiritual Care in Scotland.
The HDL recognised changes in the religious and spiritual landscape in Scotland and emphasised the importance of spiritual care as a health issue. All area Boards now have a spiritual care policy in place, and a multi-faith Spiritual Care Development Committee has been set up.

The National Resource Centre for Ethnic Minority Health (NRCEMH)
NRCEMH is part of NHS Health Scotland. It supports Boards to develop sensitive, culturally competent services for black and minority ethnic groups to reduce inequalities and to improve the health of these communities.

The NHS Scotland Inclusion Project
The Inclusion Project is a partnership between the Scottish Executive Health Department and Stonewall Scotland, which campaigns for equality for gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Scotland.
The project aims to support NHS Boards to address health inequalities experienced by LGBT people and promote social inclusion in the NHS as part of Fair for All - The Wider Challenge equality and diversity initiative.

With the support of these initiatives and the Scottish Executive Health Department you are making significant progress towards creating an inclusive environment for both staff and patients.
