The work of the Diversity Task Force and James Barbour in his leadership challenge is driven by NHSScotland's aim to support and promote dignity at work by creating an inclusive working environment.

We believe that staff should be able to contribute in a workplace free from discrimination and harassment where diverse skills, perspectives and backgrounds are valued.

The SWISS questionnaire exercise took place across NHSScotland last year to gather information on staff to enable the organisation to work towards providing such a workplace.

NHSScotland does not want to intrude in a person's personal life but the organisation does want to ensure that all it's staff can work in a safe and welcoming environment that allows them to fulfil their potential free from visible or invisible forms of discrimination.

We know that not everyone agreed with the questions being asked of them.
