Education and Training
The education and training of staff in HAI is a key priority for the Task Force. A particular success story is the Cleanliness Champions programme which has been developed for staff from all sectors of the NHSScotland workforce. The programme promotes the prevention and control of infection through equipping staff with the skills and knowledge they need to ensure good practice in areas fundamental to preventing HAI. The Cleanliness Champions Training Programme will continue to be extended and promoted throughout all NHSScotland healthcare staff. Training will be intensified over the course of the third programme. For example, NHSEducation for Scotland will establish and address workforce development requirements of Infection Control Teams and develop a programme to support Infection Control Nurse career progression.
