A revised set of targets is currently under development as part of the Environmental Performance Improvement Strategy.
We are determined to align the new targets with the national commitments under the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009. However, we believe it is important to establish realistic targets based on a thorough understanding of all challenges and opportunities faced by our organisation, so we aim to develop targets which consider all the parameters within which the Estate operates.
The expansion of the estate owing to the formation of Marine Scotland had a significant impact on our environmental performance. It has led us to consider the way in which the changes to our estate should be reflected within new targets. Thus, 2009-10 will be the new baseline year for future environmental planning and reporting. This important change will also serve to minimise the constraints arising from the variety of baseline years on which are built our current suite of environmental performance targets.
The new targets will be published on GOLSPIE once they are confirmed, and will also be included in our revised Carbon Management Plan.
