The Consultation

The Consultation exercise on A Fairer Local Tax for Scotland closed on 18th July 2008. The Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, John Swinney MSP is grateful to all those members of the public and organisations who submitted their views.

Between July and October 2008 Ministers will consider the responses to the consultation carefully, and subsequently come forward with proposals for Scotland's Parliament to decide on how best to implement a fairer system of local tax in Scotland. A full analysis of the responses will be published during autumn 2008.

Subject to the wishes of individual respondents, we shall publish response on-line and/or make them available through the Scottish Government library. Around 500 detailed responses were received.

Further information about the consultation process within the Scottish Government is available at section 8 of the consultation exercise.
