Procurement Policy Forum

Background to the Forum

The Review of Public Procurement in Scotland by John McClelland identified the need for central leadership on procurement policy and for a public sector-wide Procurement Policy Handbook to be developed, issued and maintained by the Scottish Procurement Directorate (SPD). SPD has established a Policy Forum to inform this work.

Remit of the Policy Forum

In relation to existing policy:

  • to identify areas of procurement policy where there is a need for further discussion, to identify issues around its application in individual sectors, the issue of further guidance and/or training on policy related matters.

In relation to future policy developments:

  • to examine future developments in procurement policy
  • to consider the implications for each sector represented on the Forum
  • to make recommendations to SPD on policy implementation
  • to ensure that policy developments are communicated to individual procurement organisations.

The Forum will meet quarterly. The minutes of the meetings will be published on this website.
