Natural Gas
Contract Award Announcement
Procurement Scotland can announce that a national agreement for the supply of natural gas has been awarded to Total Gas & Power. The contract will commence on 1 April 2010 until 31 March 2013 with the option to extend for a further year. The contract is available to all Scottish Public Bodies that have signed an Addendum to the existing Agency Agreement for electricity. Organisations who have signed an Agency Agreement Addendum with Procurement Scotland will migrate to the contract throughout this period as their current supply arrangements end.
Benefits from the contract will include reduced management fees. Through the implementation of a risk management policy, natural gas will be purchased in advance, which will allow effective budget forecasting and enable the risks associated with purchasing in volatile energy markets to be effectively managed.
To confirm if your organisation has signed an Agency Agreement Addendum to participate in the national contract please contact the utilities team at: Email: procurementutilities@scotland.gsi.gov.uk If your organisation has not yet signed the original electricity Agency Agreement then please also get in touch with the team..
Public bodies wishing to access the national contract for natural gas must provide a signed Addendum to an existing Agency Agreement, to Procurement Scotland. This document delegates authority to Procurement Scotland to purchase natural gas in the wholesale electricity market.
As part of the agreement, Public Bodies must provide site data information as requested in the data templates.
The data templates should be completed with the most up to date information available, and a set of guidance notes are included to assist with their completion.
As the requirement was tendered on the basis of two distinct Lots (Lot 1 for sites consuming less than 73250 kWhs per annum and Lot 2 for sites consuming greater than 73250 kWhs per annum) it will be necessary to complete a separate template for each Lot.
