DISPOSAL OF HARDWARE
In an effort to understand the current landscape across the public sector in relation to the disposal of redundant IT hardware, Procurement Scotland issued a cross-sectoral survey. Survey responses indicated that the majority of public sector organisations had no formal contract arrangements in place and organisations were generally unsure of their legal obligations in relation to the disposal of redundant computer equipment.
Procurement Scotland, have consulted with NCF members who endorsed the strategy to produce Guidance for public sector bodies. Following consultation with SEPA, Procurement Scotland will shortly publish a 'decision tree style' guide for use by individuals tasked with disposing their organisation's redundant IT hardware.
