The National Catergory Forum is now fully established, with support and representation from organisations across the Scottish Public Sector.

NATIONAL COLLABORATIVE PROCUREMENT ARRANGEMENT FOR IT HARDWARE

On 14th December 2007, Procurement Scotland held its first eAuction for IT Hardware. This project is the first demonstration of the benefits to be gained from collaboration at a National Category A level. To harness the combined purchasing power of the Scottish public sector, organisations from the Central Government, Local Authority and Higher & Further Education sectors participated in the eAuction for desktop PCs, TFT monitors and laptops.

Collaborative Procurement Arrangement - Auction Summary - Sept 08

This Collaborative Procurement Arrangement (CPA), which is subject to the terms of the OGCbs Catalist Framework Agreement, facilitates the contract between the Contracting Authority and the supplier; no further procurement action is required. Unit prices achieved in the eAuction will be held for the duration of each product's lifespan.

As at 31st August, 128 organisations from all sectors of Scottish public sector, have made purchases via this national arrangement with both cashable and non-cashable savings continuing to rise.

BUYERS GUIDE


The aim of the Buyers Guide is to provide public sector IT Managers and procurement staff with an introduction to the sourcing options and solutions that exist to help them procure the IT hardware they need to deliver the technology and services required by their organisation and staff. It promotes the role of Procurement Scotland as a key enabler in facilitating cross sector collaboration to achieve best value.

NEW INITIATIVES


DESKTOP, LAPTOP & MONITOR REFRESH

The current arrangement expires on 31 March 2009. Procurement Scotland intends refreshing the current CPD in December this year with another eAuction event. This will provide public sector customers with a 3 month overlap. Please contact either Gordon Neill or Gill McLeod to discuss your organisation's desktop refresh requirements for 2009/10.

DISPOSAL OF IT HARDWARE


Procurement Scotland issued a cross-sectoral survey in relation to the disposal of redundant IT hardware to understand the current landscape across the public sector. The initial analysis suggests that the majority of public sector organisations have no formal contract arrangements in place. Procurement Scotland will commence a tender exercise to award a national contract for IT hardware disposal by April 2009.

ULTRA-MOBILE PORTABLE COMPUTERS


Procurement Scotland are working in consultation with public sector colleagues to assess opportunities for national collaboration in relation to mini-books.

IT HARDWARE & SOFTWARE WORKSHOPS

Purpose
  • Procurement Scotland will be hosting a series of stakeholder workshops across Scotland during January 2009. The cross-sector workshops will be open to all organisations to attend, and provide an additional outlet for organisations to feedback on the commodities and share best practice.
  • The workshops are an open invitaion to allow IT and procurement specialist, the opprtinuity to provide their thoughts on an collaborative agenda.

13th January 2009 - Edinburgh, Saughton House.

Two events:

- am session start 10:00 finish 13:00

- pm session start 14:00 finish 17:00

15th January 2009 - Inverness, Palace Hotel.

One event:

20th January 2009 - Glasgow, Millennium Hotel

Two events:

- am session start 10:00 finish 13:00

22nd January 2009- Aberdeen, Marriot Hotel (airport)

One event:

- pm session start 13:00 finish 16:00

To register for any of the workshops, please e-mail Ps-enquiries@scotland.gsi.gov.uk with your name, organistaion and contact details along with date, time and venue you wish to attend. Confirmation of your place will be sent to you nearer to the workshop dates.

Note - spaces are limited, so early registraion is advised
