Procurement e-Enablement

ComputerProcurement Scotland is creating an innovative environment, embracing technology and processes, that facilitates and encourages success in delivering collaborative procurement of Category A commodities.

Procurement Scotland promotes the use of the Scottish Government's award-winning eProcurement Scotl@nd (ePS) service through the use of e-sourcing, content and programme management tools that will support the entire public sector in Scotland. The service allows buyers and suppliers access to a common platform for tendering and transacting online.

We are actively using the Scottish Procurement Information Hub that provides a cross sectoral view of supplier expenditure. This allows us to understand the broad nature of historic supply into the public sector, and thus inform our sourcing strategies.

To be successful in developing collaborative procurement strategies, it requires engagement with a broad number of stakeholders located across the length and breadth of Scotland. To supplement invaluable face-to-face discussions Procurement Scotland is implementing a remote meeting solution - Webex.

For knowledge sharing capabilities Procurement Scotland is using the internet services solution, Sharepoint.

These solutions will enable a more efficient use of time and resources. Furthermore by reducing the time spent on travel, and minimising the use of paper, Procurement Scotland will reduce its impact on the environment.
