Community benefit clauses revealed

The written word is a powerful thing - from religious texts to the claim that "It's the Sun what won it". But lately, just two short sentences have been making waves in public sector contract notices:

"Contractors will be required to support economic and social regeneration objectives. Accordingly, contract performance conditions may relate in particular to social and environmental conditions"

These include 'community benefit clauses' - and more and more public sector organisations are requiring their suppliers to undertake these activities. Most notably, they have been widely used in contracts for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

But what does this mean for suppliers? Where do you begin?

The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce is hosting a FREE event designed to unlock the secrets of community benefit clauses on 2 February 2011, from 1500-1700 in The Hub, on the Royal Mile, Edinburgh.

The seminar will feature real-life examples of companies which have successfully bid for and delivered public contracts which contain community benefit clauses, as well as an opportunity to ask public sector buyers, and the Scottish Government, what they are looking for.
