The Big Idea

If you have an idea that you think could improve things for young people in Scotland then we would like to hear about it.

The Minister for Finance & Public Service Reform in Scotland, wants to find out about ideas that will improve the public services that affect young people. If you can come up with a good idea then he will put his money where his mouth is and will give you money to allow your idea become a reality.

The Minister is looking for a wide range of ideas from young people all over Scotland.

However, in order for the Minister to consider your idea you must be able to show him:

  • how your idea will use technology to improve public services;
  • how the improved public services will improve young people's lives.

If you can do this then please let him know.

The Criteria

The Minister cannot fund all the ideas that you send us. To have the best chance of success your idea should make it clear:

  • That young people (aged between 12 and 25) will benefit;
  • That the idea is about providing better public services;
  • Why there is a need for a change;
  • What you will change;
  • What kind of technology you will use;
  • How you think technology will make public services better.

The Money

All ideas are welcome. The Minister is looking for as wide a range of ideas as possible. He will try to find funding for as many good ideas as he can. He has promised up to half a million pounds !! to develop ideas, but until he sees what ideas are out there he cannot say how much is available for each one.

At the moment his plan is to fund a certain amount of small projects (that will cost up to £5,000), a certain amount of medium-sized projects (that will cost from £5,000 to £20,000) and a certain amount of large projects (that will cost more than £20,000).
