Agenda Item 1: Minutes of Previous Meeting and Matters Arising
1. The minutes of the meeting held on 14 July (MG(05)27th Conclusions) were approved subject to revision in paragraph 4.
Agenda Item 2: Current Issues
Report from PS/Deputy First Minister
2. PS/Deputy First Minister said that the Deputy First Minister had undertaken a number of summer tour engagements and was meeting a number of key stakeholders in the enterprise and lifelong learning portfolio. Mr Stephen had also attended the funeral of Robin Cook MP.
Follow up to theLondon bombings
3. Mr Gordon updated MG on work to co-ordinate the Executive's interest in UK Government activity following the London bombings on 7 July. Justice Department would co-ordinate activity through the Scottish Emergencies Co-ordinating Committee machinery and would involve the Crown Office, Development Department, Finance and Central Services Department, Education Department, CCS and the Health Department as key responders.
Events Planning Grid
4. Dr Goudie said that Ministers were engaged in a wide range of summer tour activity across Scotland. Media and Communications Group would evaluate the effectiveness and impact of such activity as a means of informing future planning. Dr Goudie highlighted the importance of ensuring that events and announcements being prepared for the period up to the October recess were entered on the grid as soon as possible (Action: Heads of Department).
Agenda Item 3: Cabinet Business (Paper MG(05)77)
5. MG noted preparation of business to be considered at the Cabinet meetings scheduled for 17 and 31 August. Mr Foulis said that a meeting of Ministers was scheduled for 17 August to discuss portfolio contributions to the development of the Scottish Sustainable Development Strategy due for publication in the autumn. Mr Finnie had circulated a background note setting out how individual portfolios were likely to contribute to the strategy and it would be helpful if heads of department would ensure that Ministers were briefed in advance of the meeting (Action: Heads of Departments).

Information Management
6. MG discussed MG correspondence issued on 7 July seeking approval to further action following a pilot of an information management assessment conducted by CCS. MG agreed the proposals subject to the points raised in correspondence and Paul Gray's response of 10 August.
