Infrastructure Investment - Scottish Futures Trust

Scottish Futures Trust

The Scottish Futures Trust (SFT) has been set up to help deliver vital infrastructure projects at better value for taxpayers money. The SFT is a limited company with all of the shares in the company being owned by Scottish Ministers.

The SFT will aim to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of infrastructure investment in Scotland by working collaboratively with public bodies and industry, leading to better value for money and ultimately public services. SFT will act across all phases of the infrastructure investment cycle: needs identification, options investigation, investment appraisal, procurement, financing, design, construction, life cycle management / maintenance and disposal with a particular focus on planning financing and procurement.

Sir Angus Grossart is the appointed chairman of the SFT and has been tasked with steering the development of the organisation and ensuring it tackles its tasks effectively and achieves its goals. Four Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) have also been appointed to the SFT Board which now has a full complement of 5 members, including Sir Angus. Barry White is the appointed Chief Executive of the SFT and took up the position on 1 May 2009.

The SFT is playing an active part in supporting infrastructure investment in Scotland and its Business Plan for 2009-10 published on 5 June is a major step forward in the Scottish Government's drive to achieve better value for money and develop modern facilities fit for 21st century Scotland.
