The Government is committed to increasing the use of sustainable travel, both in commuting and business as published in the Scottish Government's Travel Plan.
The aim of travel plans is to minimise the environmental impact of business travel and commuting. They can play a part in reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, improving local air quality, minimising health risks and reducing congestion, noise, dirt and fumes in towns and cities, by:
- reducing the level of unnecessary travel; and
- encouraging those who have to travel to do so in a way that minimises the environmental impact.
Enabling people to carry out their everyday activities but with less need to travel can make a significant contribution to the environment. For more information, please look at the Choose Another Way website.
