Grants to fishing vessels for safety equipment maintenance

The Scottish Government is providing £400,000 until 31 March 2010, to pay individual vessels up to £250 to cover safety equipment maintenance costs. The Scottish Government has written to owners of Scottish fishing vessels to invite them to apply for funds to reimburse costs associated with the annual maintenance of life saving equipment on their vessels.

This funding is part of the implementation of the three year £29 million fishing industry action plan to help fishermen cope with high and fluctuating fuel prices.
