The Committee produced the attached note for guidance, for the use of persons proposing to engage in the generation of hydro-electric power, on the information required by it in considering the effect of new schemes on fisheries and stocks of fish.

The Committee from time to time receives Government consultation papers and responds where it considers it appropriate to do so. During the last Reporting year the Committee responded to the following:

• "Amendment to the Salmon (Fish Passes and Screens) (Scotland) Regulations 1994"
• "Working Groups - Draft Regulations and Transitional Arrangements"
• "River Basin Districts - Proposals for Change"
• "Consultation on the draft code of practice under section 60 of the Freedom of Information Act"
• "Strategic Environmental Assessment - A consultation on proposed legislative measures to introduce strategic environmental assessment in Scotland"

The Committee also made formal recommendations on a number of schemes requiring section 36 consent during the year. Details of the recommendations made can be found in the Committee's lastest Annual Report.
