Waste Disposal

This group was charged with developing a collective waste management infrastructure for the safe disposal of by-products from the industry. A wide range of interests from both industry and government were represented on this group and its conclusions influenced how the industry could meet the terms of the Animal By-Products (Scotland) Regulations 2003. The group have produced a Framework document based on research into evaluation of fish waste management techniques and waste arising from fishing and fish related industry in Scotland. These were commissioned by the Group and will assist in the development of a Best Practicable Environmental Option over the next 1-2 years.
