The Scottish Ministers must prepare and publish a strategy setting out the steps they intend to take to inform persons in Scotland about the targets specified by virtue of this act, [and] encourage them to contribute to the achievement of those targets.
Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009, Part 6, Section 91(1)
Public engagement
The low carbon Scotland public engagement strategy, published on 30 December 2010, identifies actions people in Scotland can take to contribute personally to achieving Scotland's climate change targets.
Each person in Scotland typically contributes twice the global average in terms of greenhouse gas emissions. These emissions are produced as a result of our everyday behaviour, for example by burning fossil fuels to create energy to heat and light our homes and to power our transport. It's up to us all to act now, to tackle climate change.
Small changes in our daily lives can not only help reduce emissions, but can contribute towards a healthier lifestyle, improve our environment and offer real financial savings.
An update on progress on the actions is available here.
