The Scottish Biodiversity List is a list of flora, fauna and habitats considered of principal importance for the conservation of biodiversity. The list was developed by members of the Scottish Biodiversity Forum. The overall list is the sum of four smaller lists:
- Terrestrial and fresh water species
- Terrestrial and freshwater habitats
- Marine species and habitats
- Culturally important species and habitats (identified by the Scottish public)
Scotland's Biodiversity Indicators are used to measure progress with the strategy. The 22 indicators describe changes over time in the variety, quantity or distribution of aspects of the natural world and are updated online by Scottish Natural Heritage as data becomes available.
The indicators relate closely to the UK Biodiversity Indicators which track the progress of the UK against international biodiversity targets.
