River Basin Management Plans

The WFD requires the production of a River Basin Management Plan (RBMP), by December 2009, for each River Basin District identified by December 2003. In Scotland, the Water Environment and Water Services Act (Scotland) has confirmed SEPA as the authority leading the RBM Planning process. A number of other responsible authorities are likely to be identified and given RBM Planning duties and responsibilities during 2003.

There will be a single River Basin District formed for Scotland. In addition cross-border arrangements with England regarding the formation and management of cross-border River Basin District(s) covering the Solway and Tweed systems. The consultation paper and the maps can be viewed form this link.

The findings of research into RBMPs can be viewed from links below, all the following links are to files in pdf format.
