River Basin Management Plans
The WFD requires the production of a River Basin
Management Plan (RBMP), by December 2009, for each River
Basin District identified by December 2003. In Scotland,
the Water Environment and Water Services Act (Scotland) has
confirmed SEPA as the authority leading the RBM Planning
process. A number of other responsible authorities are
likely to be identified and given RBM Planning duties and
responsibilities during 2003.
There will be a single River Basin District formed
for Scotland. In addition cross-border arrangements with
England regarding the formation and management of
cross-border River Basin District(s) covering the Solway
and Tweed systems. The consultation paper and the maps can
