Choosing our future: Scotland's Sustainable Development Strategy

The strategy of the previous Scottish Government administration published in December 2005, setting out a vision and commitment to build a more sustainable Scotland.

Sustainable Development: A Review of International Literature

This report was commissioned to inform thinking on the Scottish sustainable development strategy document, Choosing our Future, and summarises available research and policy literature, at different international levels, drawing out priorities and government responses to key themes and setting the Scottish situation in the global context. Individual topics covered by the review are: sustainable development theory; food; procurement; consumption; green jobs and enterprise; the built environment; environmental protection; education; and environmental justice.

Public Attitudes and Environmental Justice in Scotland

This study investigates people's perceptions of, and priorities amongst, local environmental problems and how these impact on health and quality of life. It contributed to the evidence base for the Government's work on environmental justice. Summary of the report's main findings.

Review of Progress on Environmental Justice

This Review is an opportunity to look at the progress that the Government and its partners made up to 2005 in delivering a wide range of work to help secure environmental justice.
