Responsible Public Access
Scotland's ancient land ownership laws were modernised with the passing of the Land Reform Act in 2003 which established a new right of responsible public access. These rights encourage visitors to the many beautiful and remote parts of Scotland. The rights and responsibilities of land managers and those exercising access rights are set out in the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, also approved by parliament.
