WORKSHOP: THE DIFFERENCE COLLEGES MAKE: 3 JULY 2006

Remit of Phase II of Working Group

To examine the difference that colleges could make if additional funding were allocated as a result of the next Spending Review [1] by:

  • identifying the pressures and opportunities;
  • estimating the costs; and
  • evaluating the difference that such funding could make to learners, the economy and wider society.

Purpose of Workshop

To identify the main pressures and opportunities for the college sector between 2008/09 and 2010/11 so that background papers can be commissioned for each of them for future consideration by the Working Group.

Output

  • List of main pressures
  • List of main opportunities
  • Identify areas of agreement
  • Identify areas of disagreement
  • Receive suggestions for authors of background papers
