Scotland-China higher education research partnership for PhD studies
The Government has made funding available for the development of collaborative research programmes at PhD level which ideally offer joint or dual degrees. These should be built around sustainable relationships between Chinese and Scottish higher education institutions or research consortia. The aims of the programme are 3 fold: - Raise awareness of the research strengths in Scottish and Chinese higher education institutions
- Build partnerships between research teams in the two countries' higher education institutions in target sectors of mutual strength and interest
- Develop joint PhD programmes by the research teams and exchange PhD students.
Activties supported |
The Scottish Government and Chinese Ministry of Education have provided funding to support the following activities: - Mobility grants
- Exchange of PhD students
- Administrating the programme.
Partnerships in the following sectors will be supported and both governments would be particularly keen to support cross disciplinary work: - Energy, resources and environment- particularly clean and renewable
 - Life sciences and public health
- Financial services
- Technology, including telecommunication and information technology and high-and-new technology in agriculture
- Geosciences, environment and society
- Material Science and New Material
- Engineering Science
- Applied social science
